  • National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) research funding
    The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is Australia’s peak body for health and medical research; for health advice; and for ethics in health care and in health and medical research. About 8,000 Australians, most under the age of 45, are employed on grants from NHMRC. Australian researchers can apply for NMHRC funding through schemes ranging from scholarships to research programs. More information at www.nhmrc.gov.au
  • JASON: Postgraduate Scholarship Database for Australia
    JASON is a postgraduate scholarship search engine. Scholarships in the database apply to Australian students wishing to study at home or abroad, and to international students wishing to study in Australia. More information at www.jason.edu.au
  • The Fyssen Foundation
    The aim of the Fyssen Foundation is to support research in psychology, neurology, anthropology, ethnology, human paleontology and archaeology. The Foundation offers Research Grants and Postdoctoral Grants for researchers to work in a French laboratory in keeping with the Foundation’s goals. More information at www.fondation-fyssen.org
  • Australian Government’s Endeavor Awards
    The Australian Government recently announced a new scholarship program as part of its response to the 2020 Summit. The Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Awards will provide scholarships for the ‘best and brightest’ university students from Australia and Asia. These scholarships will support a heightened relationship for future leaders which can be expected as their careers progress. The Government is committing $14.9 million over four years to establish this scholarship program. Commencing in 2010, forty scholarships will be awarded annually, twenty at undergraduate level and twenty at postgraduate level, to allow Australian university students to undertake up to one year of study in Asia, which can be followed by an internship or work placement in Asia. Ten scholarships will also be awarded to the top international Endeavour Awards scholars from Asia each year. More information at www.endeavour.deewr.gov.au
  • International Science Linkages program
    The International Science Linkages program is offering assistance through a competitive grants element for international research and development cooperation and related activities.   • Marie Curie Fellowships
    Marie Curie Fellowships provide European placements for pre and post-doctoral researchers, usually up to the age of 35, and for experienced researchers. See www.cordis.lu/improving/fellowships/home.htm.
  • ARC Grants
    The ARC funds research and researchers under the National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP). These programs are grouped into Discovery, Linkage and Centres. See www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/default.htm
