Dr Baer is an ARC Future Fellow and Director of the Centre for Integrative Bee Research (CIBER) at the University of Western Australia. CIBER is the first large-scale organisation focused on honey bee research in Australia. It conducts research into an array of bee-related issues, including honey bee reproduction, immunity, ecology and how best to protect bees from future decline. Dr Baer is also a member of the Australian Government Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation Honey Bee Advisory Committee.
