Dr Emily Ridgewell is a Research Officer for the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association - the peak body representing orthotist/prosthetists in Australia. Emily is a certified orthotist/prosthetist, having obtained a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (honours) in 2005 and graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 2011. Her doctoral studies examined the effect of lower limb orthosis alignment on gait in children with cerebral palsy.
Emily has broad research interest in the field of orthotics/prosthetics - from the biomechanical effects of orthoses and prostheses to issues affecting the profession and broader allied health. Recent work includes a study of the changing demographics of the orthotist/prosthetist workforce and the development and validation of robust competency standards for orthotist/prosthetists in Australia.
