Anne Stone is Regents’ Professor in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change at the Arizona State University. Her research uses genetics to understand population history and how humans and the great apes have adapted to their environments, including their disease and dietary environments. In particular, her research focuses on Native American population history, the evolutionary history of the Great Apes, and the co-evolutionary history of mycobacteria (such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. leprae, the causative agents of tuberculosis and leprosy, respectively) with humans and other animals.
