Colleen Loo, MBBS (Hons), FRANZCP, MD (research doctorate),  is Professor of Psychiatry at the University of NSW, Founder and Director of the Sydney Neurostimulation Centre (SyNC) at the Black Dog Institute, consultant psychiatrist at the St George Hospital, and Director of ECT at Wesley Hospital in Sydney.

She is a qualified psychiatrist. Professor Loo has established an internationally recognized research program investigating novel clinical treatments for psychiatric disorders, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, transcranial Direct Current Stimulation and ketamine, and their effects on brain functioning. She conducted the first controlled trials in psychiatry of TMS, tDCS and ketamine in Australia. She has led and been involved in international multicenter trials of ECT, TMS, tDCS and ketamine.

Her research into tDCS examines its potential as an antidepressant treatment, and its potential to improve cognitive functioning in neuropsychiatric disorders. She has over 200 peer reviewed publications. Her research is funded by competitive research grants from the Australian NHMRC and international grant bodies, and is independent of the influence of industry.

She serves as an expert adviser to Australian government health departments and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). She is Vice President of the International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation.
