Dr Kirsten Parris is an Associate Professor in Urban Ecology in the School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences at The University of Melbourne, and the Deputy Leader of the NESP Hub for Clean Air and Urban Landscapes. Her research focuses on the ecology of urban environments, amphibian ecology, bioacoustics and field survey methods. Some of her current projects include: impacts of urban noise on acoustic communication in birds and frogs; the impact of severe bushfires on the ecology and genetics of frogs in the Victorian Kinglake region; and the ecological costs and benefits of artificial wetlands in urban landscapes.
