The Australian Academy of Science today opened applications for its 2013 round of prestigious awards, including career and early career researcher awards, travelling fellowships, research bursaries and conference support.
More than $200,000 will be awarded in honorific awards recognising outstanding work in Australian science, travelling fellowships to establish science links between Australia and the world, and research and conference grants to advance research in a range of disciplines.

Travelling fellowships
Travelling fellowships worth almost $70,000 include the Selby travelling fellowship for overseas scientists to visit Australia, the Graeme James Caughley travelling fellowship for ecologists in Australia or New Zealand to travel overseas and the Oxford Nuffield Medical Fellowship
Research support
About $90,000 is available through the WH Gladstone Population & Environment Fund and the Margaret Middleton Fund for endangered Australian native vertebrate animals.
Conference support
Up to $30,000 is available for the Boden Research Conference in the biological sciences, the Fenner Conference on the Environment, and the Elizabeth and Frederick White Research Conference in the physical sciences.
