Master class in Astronomy on Parliament House rooftop with Nobel Prize winner Professor Brian Schmidt

Nobel Prize winner and Australian Academy of Science Council member, Professor Brian Schmidt, will
captivate politicians and scientists alike with a special Master class in Astronomy at Parliament House
tonight.

It will mark the launch of the new Parliamentary Friends of Science Group, a forum for engagement and
dialogue between parliamentarians and scientists in Australia.

The event will be a highlight of this year’s Science meets Parliament, an annual gathering that brings
together more than 200 of Australia’s top scientists and puts them in touch with decision makers in

Professor Schmidt will take parliamentarians through a star-gazing tour of the universe using optical
telescopes on the rooftop of Parliament House.
