The Early- and Mid-Career Researcher (EMCR) Forum is supported by the Australian Academy of Science and fully run by EMCRs for EMCRs, with a network of more than 6,000 members across Australian academia, industry, not-for-profit, government, and commercial sectors.
The EMCR Forum recently published its annual report summarising activities and achievements for 2022, including international engagement (becoming an Affiliated Member of the International Science Council), work on the Theo Murphy Initiative, policy and government submissions, and more.

Join the Australian Academy of Science for the fourth instalment of the 2023 public speaker series.
Hear how the intersection of Indigenous knowledges is informing our understanding of topics including climate change, agriculture and astronomy. The speakers for this event are Shandell Cummings and Dr Fiona Walsh.

Join the Embassy of Italy in Australia and the Australian Academy of Science to hear from Australia’s first female astronaut, Dr Meganne Christian.
Dr Christian is a materials scientist and atmospheric physicist, and is one of 11 reservist astronauts selected as part of the European Space Agency’s 2022 astronaut class, alongside five career astronauts from more than 22,500 eligible applicants.
Date: Friday 11 August
Time: 5.30pm – 6.45pm AEST, followed by refreshments and networking

Since the Academy’s creation by Royal Charter in 1954, the first donations received by our Founders assisted towards the foundation of the Endowment Fund—allowing the Academy to establish its independence.
With further support from our Fellows, donors and friends, we have been able to develop and implement a breadth of programs and activities that are now sewn into the fabric of Australian science.
Today, we continue to uphold this legacy and donations play an important role in ensuring science informs decisions wherever they are made, the continuation of building capabilities, nurturing early- and mid-career researchers who are shaping the science sector, and contributing to national and international challenges.
