Chief Scientist to launch new science education DVD

Australia’s Chief Scientist Professor Ian Chubb and Australian Academy of Science Secretary for Education and Public Awareness Professor Jenny Graves will tomorrow launch a new DVD designed to help engage primary school students in science.

The PrimaryConnections program is a joint initiative of the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Government. This highly successful program is helping primary school teachers across Australia improve their confidence and competence in teaching science.

The PrimaryConnections 5Es DVD is the first resource released by the Australian Academy of Science to help teachers implement the new Australian Curriculum: Science.

The national launch will take place at Fadden Primary School in the ACT which participated in the DVD’s production, along with Enoggera Primary School and Graceville State School in Queensland and Maylands Peninsula Primary School in Western Australia.

Media are welcome to film in a classroom following the launch.
