The competition is being run by the National Committee for Nutrition and managed by the Australian Academy of Science and is funded by the Australian Government. It is run in collaboration with Dietitians Australia.
The competition will run from August 1, 2021 all entries must be received before August 31, 2021 at 5:00pm (AEST). No late entries will be considered and/or accepted.
Each category will be allocated one prize for first place. These prizes are for the class/school of the student who submits the entry.
There is no payout in cash. Prizes will be issued/claimed in one transaction.
The organisers of the competition reserve the right to change or substitute prizes if required.
Entries must be the original work of the entrants. The image must not have won or been entered in any previous competitions or any other public displays. Your entry must not have been previously published in any form or in any other place in Australia.
Ensure the images do not include any identifying features of any person or school.

The winner of the competition will be judged by a selection panel involving staff of the Australian Academy of Science, coordinated by National Committee for Nutrition.
The selection panel will decide the winner based on the marking guide. The judges will review each submission as they deem appropriate. The judges’ decision is final.
Teachers of the winners will be notified by email. The winner will also be notified via an announcement on the scienceXart webpage.
Selected entries may be used on Academy social media.
The Academy will contact the teacher of the student with the winning submission to discuss prize claims.
If the prize is unclaimed for a period of 30 days from time of the winner announcement, the winner forfeits their rights to the prize. The prize will be given to the runner up, as selected by the judges’ panel.
The Australian Academy of Science adheres to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations collection of personal information only as part of the entry in order to conduct the competition.
By submitting an entry, entrants agree that the Australian Academy of Science may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the personal information collected from the entry for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes for the competition, for internet posts and/or for future communication activities by the Australian Academy of Science.
