With international functions currently on hold, the recovery of Australia’s business events industry will be led by businesses and associations choosing to hold their meetings and celebrations in Australia. The iconic Shine Dome was purpose-built for the Australian Academy of Science to celebrate and support Science in Australia. The Shine Dome was the first building in Canberra to be placed on the National Heritage Listings for its historical and architectural significance. With five unique spaces within the building, the Shine Dome is open for all sectors of the community and works with not-for-profit organisations, corporate clients, and even private clients. The Shine Dome is a versatile space and can cater for smaller meetings, planning days and retirement parties, for example, to large multi-day conferences.
The dome—roof, walls and structure combined—dives down beneath the still water of its moat to give the sense that it is floating. From the walkway between the moat and the inner walls, the arches provide a 360° panoramic sequence of 16 views of Australia’s capital and the hills beyond.
