In brief

Academy strategic review

Over recent years, the Academy has faced the challenge of an increasing demand and need for science-informed activities within a context of constrained resources. The Academy has a range of objectives, including to provide independent, authoritative and influential scientific advice; champion science; recognise excellence; foster a broad understanding of science; and promote international scientific engagement.

To maximise our effectiveness, the Academy is reviewing its core goals and priorities. It is timely to ask ourselves whether we have the balance of resource allocation right, and whether we can find more effective ways of addressing our objectives and maximising our impact.

As such, the Academy has recently commissioned a refresh of its strategic plan and key structural and operational parameters, to be conducted by an external review team comprised of Dr Adi Paterson, Philip Marcus Clark AO, Patricia Kelly PSM, and Executive Officer Anne-Marie Lansdown.

The review team will consult with the Academy leadership, Fellows and Academy staff, as well as with a broad range of external stakeholders.
