ATSE Awards 2024

The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering (ATSE) Awards recognise the best and brightest of Australian science and engineering, across a range of Awards for STEM leaders and up and coming innovators.

Registrations for Awards Information Sessions are now open.

Winners will be announced at the ATSE Awards Gala Dinner Thursday 17 October 2024 in Melbourne.

TÜBA Academy Prizes are annually awarded to the nominated scientists in Basic and Engineering Sciences, and Health and Life Sciences.

2024 Young Tall Poppy Awards

The awards were created to recognise and celebrate Australian intellectual and scientific excellence and to encourage younger Australians to follow in the footsteps of our outstanding achievers.

Nominees must have graduated with their PhD between three and 10 years of the nomination closing date.

The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes honour excellence across the areas of research and innovation, leadership, science engagement and school science.

The Jian Zhou Medal

The Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences Jian Zhou Medal is awarded annually to a rising star of Australian health and medical science who is making a significant impact in translational medical science, primarily working in Australia.

The medal is awarded at the Academy’s annual meeting each October and recipients receive financial support for their travel costs to enable them to attend.

The John Maddox Prize

Awarded to researchers who have shown great courage and integrity in standing up for science and scientific reasoning against fierce opposition and hostility. There are two categories: early-career and lifetime achievement. Each winner receives €5,000 euros and their work will be featured on Nature.com.

VinFuture Prize

The vision of the VinFuture Prize is to catalyse meaningful change in people’s everyday lives through tangible and highly scalable improvements in areas such as productivity, prosperity, connectivity, health, safety, environment, sustainability, and people’s overall happiness regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Prizes consist of:

  • A Grand Prize of US$3 million, awarded annually for breakthrough research and technological innovations that positively improve the quality of human life, and create a more equitable and sustainable world for future generations. The Grand Prize will be open to all, regardless of the candidate’s nationality, age, gender, social status, or economic background.
  • Three additional Special Prizes of US$500,000 each with a focus on promoting diversity, equity, and new fields of study.

Prince Mahidol Award

The Prince Mahidol Award is awarded to individuals or institutions for their outstanding performance and/or research in medicine that contributes directly to the betterment of society. There will be one award in medicine and one in public health, worth US$100,000 each.

South Australia Science Excellence and Innovation Awards

The South Australian Scientist of the Year and the South Australian Innovator of the year will receive a prize to the value of A$25,000. The winners of the remaining categories will receive a prize to the value of A$10,000 to use towards their career development.
