It has been a busy time for visiting international delegations, with the Academy hosting four recent meetings.

On 18 April, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) discussed young scientist exchanges between Australia and China at a meeting chaired by Academy Fellow and Council member, Professor Jim Williams. Both parties eagerly await the upcoming Joint Science and Technology Council meeting between the governments of China and Australia later this year when priority areas will be discussed.

On 2 May, the Academy met with members of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) to discuss education and outreach, and joint promotion of the International Science Council Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific.

A delegation from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) visited on 7 May. The discussion focused on science policy, the R&D system, and national science plans.

On 15 May, the Academy hosted a delegation from the Academia Sinica Taiwan at a meeting where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two academies was signed. Discussions centred on opportunities for growth and collaboration in semiconductors and supply chain diversification, quantum technology, metamaterials and net-zero development, building on a meeting in October 2023 with the National Science and Technology Council Taiwan. The MoU is a good platform to build opportunities to strengthen research links between both parties in areas of mutual significance.
