Academy Corresponding Member Sir Marc Feldmann AC FAA FRS has generously donated funds to establish two new biological science honorific awards. The Academy invites nominations for outstanding early- and mid-career researchers based in Australia.
The Gustav Nossal Medal for Global Health will recognise research of the highest standing in the field of global health, honouring the contributions made to the fields of cellular immunology, antibody formation and tolerance and vaccine research by Sir Gustav Nossal AC CBE FAA FRS FTSE.
The Jacques Miller Medal for Experimental Biomedicine will recognise research of the highest standing in the field of experimental biomedicine, honouring contributions made to science by Professor Jacques Miller AC FAA FRS that include the discovery of the function of the thymus and the identification, in mammalian species, of the two major subsets of lymphocytes and their function.
The first medals will be awarded in 2015 and the closing date for nominations is 24 September 2014.
