The number of people accessing Science by Doing resources online is now close to 17,000, with more than 30% of Australian science teachers now registered on the Science by Doing website. By registering, Australian teachers, students and their parents have access to the year 7 to 10 innovative curriculum units, with all 16 science units to be available by 2015. Each unit consists of a student guide, student digital resource, and teacher guide.
The year 9 unit Chemical Patterns and year 10 unit Motion and Energy Transfer are being trialled this term, with the latter unit exploring the difficult concepts of energy transfer. We developed an animation to help students understand the idea of voltage.
Each of the units use a variety of hands-on activities, film clips and digital interactive items to challenge and engage students in their understanding of science phenomena.
