Supporting the Academy

Since its creation by Royal Charter in 1954, gifts and legacies from Fellows and friends have helped the Academy to maintain a degree of financial independence. Many of our core activities such as scientific meetings, expert independent advice to support policy development, science education, public awareness and outreach, and awards and fellowships would not be possible without this long-term support. It is critical to achieving our strategic objectives.

Donations to the Academy are put straight to work. In recent months donations have made a huge impact in supporting primary school science education through Primary Connections, improving public understanding of science with Nova: science for curious minds, supporting excellence in Australian science with the Academy Awards and Medals, and improving gender equity in science through the SAGE Pilot.
