The 2015 Theo Murphy Australian Frontiers of Science symposium, Materials for the 21st century: from design to application, will be held in Melbourne from 9 to 11 December. Congratulations to the 63 EMCRs whose applications to attend this year were accepted. The Academy looks forward to welcoming you at the event in December and hearing about your research.
Each year the Australian Academy of Science runs a Frontiers of Science symposium aiming to bring together the best young Australian scientists from multidisciplinary areas of science to discuss emerging technologies and identify potential opportunities for future research collaboration. Gifted young scientists explain what they do and why and, during this process, discover how an idea can bridge disciplines.

The symposiums are organised by early- and mid-career researchers who are selected by an oversight committee comprising Fellows of the Academy and other key experts. The chairs of sessions and speakers are all EMCRs, as are the participants.
A special event in this year’s program will be an industry engagement evening, giving the EMCRs attending the chance to meet with representatives from industry and pitch ideas or form connections to help build their careers.
Keep an eye out each year to see if the Theo Murphy Australian Frontiers of Science symposium includes your field of research.
