L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Australia & New Zealand Fellowships	L'Oréal and UNESCO	28 June 2024	The Fellowships are intended to provide practical help for the winners to undertake a one year research project in their chosen fields. Winners may choose to spend their funding on buying scientific equipment, paying for child care costs, conference & travel costs or other items they may need to continue their research - four Australian Fellowships and one New Zealand Fellowship valued at $25,000
TWAS Awards	The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)	5 April 2024	This award is Biennial and awarded to individual scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least 10 years in the fields of agricultural sciences, biology, chemistry, earth, astronomy and space sciences, engineering sciences, mathematics, medical sciences, physics and social sciences. Once every two years - US $10,000 each

Virchow Prize for Global Health	Virchow Foundation for Global Health	28 Feb 2025	Awarded to an individual, institution, or organisation who has made significant contributions towards strengthening global health - €500,000. Nominations will open in October 12, 2024
SQA PhD Scholarships	Sydney Quantum Academy	Stream 4 applications for the SQA PhD Scholarships are now being accepted. On April 2025, applications will be accepted for 2026 cohort.	The SQA scholarship program offers students funding to work alongside some of the world’s leading quantum researchers and gain industry-ready skills. SQA PhD Scholarships provide a stipend of up to AU$35,000 p.a., access to career development funding and exclusive benefits.
Mathematics Breakthrough Prize	BREAKTHROUGH PRIZE		The Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics is given annually to an individual making significant accomplishments in mathematics - $3 million. The New Horizons in Mathematics Prize is designated for early-career researchers - $100,000. The Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize will be presented to women mathematicians who have completed their PhDs within the past two years - $50,000.
Fundamental Physics Breakthrough Prize	BREAKTHROUGH PRIZE		The Breakthrough Prizes in Life Sciences are given annually for accomplishments in life sciences broadly defined. Up to four annual Breakthrough Prizes in Life Sciences – $3 million each.
International Prize for Biology	Japan Society for the Promotion of Science	15 March 2024	Awarded to an individual who has made outstanding contribution to the advancement of research in biology of genomes – 10 million yen
Tall Poppy Science Awards	Australian Institute of Policy and Science	22 April 2024	The awards were created to recognise and celebrate Australian intellectual and scientific excellence and to encourage younger Australians to follow in the footsteps of our outstanding achievers. Nominees must have graduated with their PhD between three and ten years of the nomination closing date.
Australian Museum Eureka Prize	Australian Museum	12 February 2025	The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes honour excellence across the areas of research & innovation, leadership, science engagement, and school science.
Science Excellence Awards South Australia	Government of South Australia	28 February 2025	Awarded to high achievers in research, industry and education in South Australia. The South Australian Scientist of the Year and the South Australian Innovator of the year will receive $25,000 prize money and winners of all other categories will receive $10,000
TÜBA Academy Prizes	Turkish Academy of Sciences	31 May 2024	TÜBA Academy Prizes are annually awarded to the nominated scientists in Basic and Engineering Sciences, and Health and Life Sciences. The award is comprised of an Academy medal and USD$30,0000.
The Jian Zhou Medal	Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences	30 April 2025	The Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences Jian Zhou Medal is awarded annually to a rising star of Australian health and medical science who is making a significant impact in translational medical science, primarily working in Australia. The Medal is awarded at the Academy’s annual meeting each October and recipients receive financial support for their travel costs to enable them to attend.
Le Grand Prix de la Fondation de la Maison de la Chemie	Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie	30 April 2024	Rewards an original work in chemistry, of benefit to mankind, society or nature. Once every two years – €35,000
The John Maddox Prize	Sense about Science	21 May 2024	Awarded to researchers who have shown great courage and integrity in standing up for science and scientific reasoning against fierce opposition and hostility. Each year there is one winner, and an additional prize for an early career researcher - £3000.
VinFuture Prize	The VinFuture Foundation	17 April 2024	The VinFuture Prize has a Grand Prize of US$3 million awarded annually for breakthrough research and technological innovations that positively improve the quality of human life, and create a more equitable and sustainable world for future generations. There are also three additional Special Prizes of US$ 500,000 each with a focus on promoting diversity, equity, and new fields of study will also be awarded annually to: Innovator(s) from Developing Country(ies), Female Innovator(s), and Innovator(s) with Outstanding Achievements in Emerging Fields.
Buys Ballot Medal	The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences	May 15 2028	The Buys Ballot Medal was established to promote advancements in meteorology and is awarded once every 5 years.

TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize	The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)	5th April 2024	Awarded to scientists living and working in the developing countries for outstanding scientific achievements in engineering sciences - US $100,000, medal and certificate
KNAW Bob Pinedo Cancer Care Award	Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences	May 2026	Awarded to a researcher (or team of researchers) whose contribution to (translational) cancer research and compassionate cancer patient - €100,000
L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards	L'Oréal and UNESCO	1 July 2024	Recognises and promotes established women scientists whose outstanding achievements have contributed to the advancement of scientific knowledge and of its benefits to society and provide support to promising young women who are already making significant contributions in their scientific disciplines.

Premi Ramon Margalef d'Ecologia	Generalitat de Catelunya	30 April 2025	The purpose of this international award is to recognise people all over the world who have distinguished themselves in the field of ecological science.
Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology	Eppendorf	15 June 2024	The international Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology is awarded annually to one young scientist, under 35 years of age, for the most outstanding neurobiological research based on methods of molecular and cell biology conducted by them during the past three years - US $25,000
BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards	BBVA Foundation	30 June 2024	Awarded in basic sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics), biology and biomedicine, information and communication technologies, ecology and conservation biology, climate change - €400 000
RACI National Awards	Royal Australian Chemical Institute	30 June 2024	RACI recognise overall contributions and achievements of members in a number of areas, including: Research and Innovation C.S. Piper Award is awarded to a full member of the RACI for the best published original research work carried out mainly in Australia in the fields of either soil chemistry or the mineral nutrition of plants. Awarded every second year. H.G. Smith Memorial Award is awarded to a member of the RACI who has contributed most to the development of some branch of chemical science. Rennie Memorial Medal is awarded for excellence in research in Chemical Science. Leadership Fensham Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Chemical Education recognises outstanding contributions to the teaching of chemistry and science in general over an extended period. The Chemical Service Award recognises substantial contributions to Chemistry and especially to the progress of the profession over a period of many years. Applied Research Award is awarded to a full member of the RACI who has contributed significantly towards the development of, or innovation through, applied research, or in industrial fields. Citations is awarded to a member of the RACI who has made substantial contributions to chemistry, and especially to the progress of the profession over a period of many years. Distinguished Fellowship Award is awarded in recognition of highly distinguished contributions to the profession of academia, government or industry. Leighton Memorial Medal is awarded to a Chartered Member of the RACI in recognition of eminent services to chemistry in Australia in the broadest sense. Weickhardt Medal: Distinguished Contribution to Economic Advancement is awarded to a full member of the RACI who has contributed significantly towards the economic advancement of the Australian economy through work in the chemistry area. Women in Chemistry Margaret Sheil Leadership Award is in recognition of an outstanding female leader working a chemistry-related field including academia, teaching, and the public or private sector who has helped to inspire and mentor junior female chemists and/or help to provide a more equitable work place. Rita Cornforth Lectureship is awarded to an outstanding female Early Career chemist in recognition of outstanding contribution to chemical research in any sphere, including industry, the public sector and academia.

2024 Australian of the Year Awards	National Australia Day Council	Sept - Oct 2025	Celebrates the contributions of those leading Australians who excel in their chosen field or who make outstanding achievements for the betterment of others.
Metcalf Prizes for Stem Cell Research	National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia	9 August 2025	The National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia awards and celebrates two exceptional mid-career stem cell researchers with the Metcalf Prizes for Stem Cell Research. The prizes recognise and honours the exceptional contribution made to stem cell research by Emeritus Professor Donald Metcalf, AC, FRS, FAA.

The Abel Prize	The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters	1 September annually - nominations received after this date are considered in the subsequent year.	The Abel Prize recognizes outstanding scientific work in the field of mathematics, including mathematical aspects of computer science, mathematical physics, probability, numerical analysis and scientific computing, statistics, and also applications of mathematics in the sciences. - 7.5 million NOK (approx AU$1.15 million)

Wolf Prize	Wolf Foundation	The 2025 Wolf Prize is open for nominations	Nomination to the wolf prize is by invitation only. Awarded to outstanding scientists for their achievements for the benefit of mankind in the following fields in 2024: Physics- Medicine – Agriculture-Mathematics, and Music. - US $100,000 in each prize area. Dreyfus Prize	The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation	5 December 2024	The Dreyfus Prize is awarded biennially and recognizes an individual for exceptional and original research in a selected area of chemistry that has advanced the field in a major way. The 2023 Dreyfus Prize topis is "Imaging in Chemical Sciences". The prize consists of a monetary award of $250,000, a medal, and a certificate.
