The EMCR Forum has released a consultation draft of a discussion paper on interactions between academia and industry. It gives an overview of some of the similarities and differences between how science is done in academia, the private sector, government organisations and elsewhere.
Our aim is to demystify academia for those in industry and vice versa. We hope that starting the conversation will lead to a better mutual understanding across sectors, a better understanding by EMCRs of the career paths available to them, better engagement between sectors, and better outcomes for everyone.
Read the draft and give us your comments. We are particularly interested in hearing from EMCRs with case studies of effective interactions between different sectors. Initial comments close 13 November but further feedback will be sought as we aim to release a final paper in the new year.
