Greetings EMCRs and non-EMCR readers of EMCR Pathways!

We start the April Issue with a welcome from our incoming Chair for 2017, Carly Rosewarne. As a humble editor I can tell you all that we are very lucky to have such a talented and effective person leading the way for EMCRs in Australia!

New EMCR Forum executive member Roisin McMahon reports back from Science Meets Parliament, the annual extravaganza organised by Science and Technology Australia. If you missed out or didn’t apply this year, get in touch with your society and make sure you get a spot in 2018!

This issue we also hear from Hannah Osborn, a PhD candidate from the Australian National University who recently undertook an internship at the Australian Academy of Science.

We then head south to Antarctica with Merry McKinnon, one of a select group of female scientists who took part in the inaugural Homeward Bound initiative that aims to get more women in leadership roles.

As part of our regular On the job with… feature we hear from Dr Leah Cannon, who left the bench for a science communications role and hasn’t looked back.

And as part of our growing stable of EMCR profiles I trust you’ll take pleasure in Getting to know… Anand Gururajan in Cork, Ireland.

Whether you’re new to the Forum or know us like the back of your hand, it’s well worth catching up on what the Forum has been up to .

It would be remiss of me not to thank Sandra Gardam for her expert help in putting together Pathways and supporting the Forum. So I will. Thanks!

As usual I’d like to issue a heartfelt, sincere and as formal or informal as you like invitation to get in touch with us and tell us what you’re thinking. For the EMCR Forum to be the voice of Australia’s future scientific leaders, we need to hear yours.
