Science advice for informed decision-making

In an era where ideas and evidence are increasingly contested, decision-makers require trusted, independent expert advice to make informed decisions.

The Australian Academy of Science – an independent learned academy – is uniquely equipped to fill this need.

By harnessing our independence and convening power, the Academy integrates scientific understanding into policy advice to support decision-makers across all portfolios and departments as a trusted adviser. Additionally, we provide science advice services to non-government organisations and companies.

The Academy convenes scientific knowledge from national and international experts across all fields and draws on experienced staff working at the science–policy interface. We draw on the deep expertise within our Fellowship, comprising over 600 of Australia’s leading scientists and our extensive national and international scientific networks to access unparalleled expertise.

The Academy’s science advice capability is both agile and customised, meeting the unique demands of each policy challenge. Whether it’s a rapid response to an emerging issue or a long-term strategic challenge, our approach is designed to fit the requirements of the situation.
