Kylie Catchpole is a world leader in the research field of solar energy. Her pioneering work on the mechanisms of nanoscale interaction between light and semiconductors established new approaches to improve light absorption in solar cells. She led the development of perovskite solar cells and tandem solar cells with world record efficiencies, through building a deep understanding of how ions, electrons and device structure combine to affect solar cell performance. She has also led the creation of solar hydrogen technology that has been internationally recognized for the achievement of high efficiency hydrogen generation using low-cost materials.
