Every year, Australia's foremost scientists gather at Science at the Shine Dome. High achievers are admitted to the Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science, prestigious awards are presented, and a symposium is held on an issue of national importance. The 2015 theme is 'Minerals to medicines: 100 years of X-ray crystallography'. X-ray crystallography has come a long way since Adelaide-born Nobel Laureate Lawrence Bragg pioneered the field 100 years ago. Featuring scientists at the forefront of their fields, this symposium will look at the world-changing work being done in crystallography—from extra-terrestrial investigations to medicine, from biology to chemistry and materials. Scientists, policy makers, educators, early- to mid-career researchers (EMCRs) and the interested public are invited to attend. Be a part of this exciting foray into what the future holds.
The program for EMCRs also includes an exclusive BBQ dinner with Fellows of the Academy, and workshops delivered by experts and targeted to the needs of EMCRs. The workshop topics are as follows:
Topic 1: Leadership in science
Topic 2: Research and industry partnerships
Topic 3: Successful grant writing
Topic 4: Communication and collaboration in science
Date: 26-28 May 2015
Venue: The Shine Dome, Gordon Street, Canberra ACT 2601
Registration: 3-Day EMCR Package $525
