The physics committee covers all disciplines within physics, including applied physics, theoretical physics, experimental physics, and interdisciplinary fields. The committee plays a central role in promoting the global relevance of physics, both within Australia and internationally.

The National Committee for Physics aims to:  

  • provide strategic evidence-based advice on physics to the Academy and other bodies as required   
  • support scientific literacy and excellence in physics by engaging with researchers, professionals and relevant national organisations  
  • liaise with relevant international bodies, ensuring Australian involvement in international activities   
  • promote interdisciplinary collaboration and take a multi-disciplinary approach in providing advice to the Academy
