  • For global leaders in science and technology, this invitation to be ‘where science lives’ represents an extraordinary opportunity.
  • Australia offers unique professional and personal benefits for scientists considering a new future in which their research is valued, respected and impactful.
  • The Where Science Lives: Global Talent Attraction Program is a strategic and exciting opportunity for high-calibre scientists and technologists of global standing to redirect their careers, talents and contributions to Australia.
  • The Global Talent Attraction Program is a future-focused opportunity for businesses, industry bodies, governments and philanthropists to advance Australia’s scientific profile on the global stage.

The Global Talent Attraction Program supports a nationally coordinated approach to strengthening Australia’s science and technology capability through international talent attraction.

Established in response to a unique global opportunity to attract exceptional researchers and technologists, the initiative was designed to help address critical capability gaps and strengthen Australia’s long-term research and innovation capacity in areas of national importance.

The Academy has established a merit pool of internationally recognised researchers from across academia, industry and government research sectors. The program now focuses on facilitating connections between the candidates and Australian institutions seeking globally leading scientific and technological expertise aligned with their strategic priorities and future capability needs.

The initiative is institution- and discipline-agnostic, enabling engagement across the full breadth of science and technology, including life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, computing, medical research, Earth and environmental sciences, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.

Strengthening Australia’s research capability

Internationally leading researchers and technologists make significant contributions to Australia’s research and innovation ecosystem through scientific leadership, global collaboration networks, mentorship and capability building.

Their expertise can help strengthen research excellence, support emerging fields of strategic importance and enhance Australia’s international competitiveness in science and technology.

International engagement also supports the development of globally connected research teams and strengthens collaboration across academia, industry and government.

Institutions interested in exploring opportunities through the program are encouraged to connect with us to explore potential options.
