Awards and opportunities

Central to the purpose of the Academy is the recognition and support of outstanding contributions to the advancement of science. The honorific awards recognise outstanding contributions to the advancement of science at the early, mid and career level and career awards recognise life-long achievement. The Academy also supports scientists to undertake research projects, travel and deliver lectures at a national and international level.

Australia-Scotland Fund

The Australian Academy of Science (the Academy) and the Royal Society of Edinburgh (the RSE) jointly deliver the Australia-Scotland Fund (the fund), which provides annual grants for bilateral research visits between Australia and Scotland.

Australia-USA Mobility Fund

The Australia-USA Mobility Fund supports emerging Australian health researchers to host senior US researchers for focused visits that strengthen expertise and collaboration.

France and Europe EMCR Mobility Grants

The Early- and Mid-Career Researcher Mobility Grants support Australian researchers to travel to France and other European countries to work with leading researchers at major science and technology organisations for between 14 and 28 days.

Science at the Shine Dome 2026 Diversity and Inclusion Grant

The Australian Academy of Science Diversity and Inclusion Grants are designed to allow everyone the opportunity to attend Science at the Shine Dome, reducing practical barriers to attendance by contributing to additional eligible costs associated with caring responsibilities or accessibility requirements.

Grants up to $15,000 each are available for delivering activities designed to provide tangible benefits to EMCRs in Australia from an existing event.
